EN Standard Flow Rates and Grades - Aerators(EN246-2021)

Summary

In modern household facilities, aerators have become an indispensable part. Especially, the aerators for faucets in kitchens and bathrooms have attracted much attention. The core principle is to utilize the mixing of air and water to transform the originally turbulent water flow into a full and fine foam water flow.

EN 246 aerator
The main functions of the faucet aerator are as follows: ●Firstly, it can save water and energy. By mixing air with water to create more bubbles in the water flow, it makes people feel that the water flow is large while the actual water flow volume is small.
●Secondly, it can prevent water from splashing. It makes the water flow gentle and dispersed.
●Thirdly, it can filter impurities in the water, protect the components of the faucet and make the water cleaner. ●Finally, it can also reduce the noise of the water flow.
Flow rate measurement
Measure the flow velocity Q value of the aerator under a pressure of 0.3 ± 0.02 MPa (3 ± 0.2 bar) and within a temperature range of 20 ± 5 °C.

Grade     Flow rate L/min
Z            7,5 ≤ Q ≤ 9,0
A           13,5 ≤ Q ≤ 15,0
S           18,0 ≤ Q ≤ 19,8
B           22,8 ≤ Q ≤ 25,2
C           27,0 ≤ Q ≤ 30,0
D           34,8 ≤ Q ≤ 37,8
